Objectives

  • Describe different urine collection techniques and defend the importance of a good specimen.
  • Correlate urinalysis results with decomposition of urine due to incorrect storage and transport.
  • Discuss the procedures and interpretations of physical analysis of urine.
  • Correctly perform and interpret the results of chemical tests included in routine urinalysis.
  • Select and perform pertinent chemical backup procedures.
  • Distinguish substances which interfere with chemical testing.
